Does perfume contain any animal urine.

A number of fragrances contain animal products, including animal urine or other secretions from animals. The musk ox amongst other animals like the musk deer, muskrat and beaver, are all used to provide musk from their glands. This can also be contained in the animal urine and so collected and applied in the process of combining all ingredients intended for the resulting perfume or fragrance. As musk is the animal pheromone produced by these animals in the wild, and employed to attract a mate, we as humans are instinctively drawn to the odorous aroma and cannot resist the scent. If one has ever walked past someone, and caught the wafting scent of their women's fragrance or cologne, which has literally made you weak at the knees, chances are that it was the musk content in their scent, that had the desired effect on you.

A study has been conducted in which an attractive male’s urine sample was placed on a blotter and wafted under a woman’s nose. The result was a calmer, more confident woman during the social event she attended thereafter, proving that instinctively the musk scent has a definite effect on the brain, with positive results. The positivity unfortunately does not extend to the animals utilised for the musk gain, as they are often inhumanely secured and scraped of their musk scents, to satisfy the needs of manufacturers, perfumeries, and the consumer alike. The bottom line is that musk attracts the opposite sex, when included in perfume. It may not be as blatantly obvious as in the wild, but through the studies as mentioned above, and clinical trial conducted, the overall reaction to musk goes back to the animalistic instinct in all of us. Estrogen, or Estradiol, which is the female hormone from a pregnant mare’s urine, is also used in perfumes and other applications. So too is Urea, Carbamide, which is extracted from the urine and other bodily fluids and utilised in deodorants.
