What happens when your significant other likes a perfume that you hate or vice-versa.
If you happen to wear a perfume that is loved by your nearest and dearest, but you don’t particularly like, then try to come to a compromise. Either opt to wear it on the odd occasion when you two will be alone, or where you will have the opportunity to bathe and dilute the fragrance a short time later. Chances are that they won’t notice that you’ve removed or diluted the fragrance after the initial ‘hit’. They will remember that you wore it for them, and knowing that you may not enjoy it as much as they do, will really go a long way for your relationship. An alternative would be to find another perfume or fragrance that they also enjoy on you, and wear that more and more often, until the other fragrance becomes a thing of the past. Perhaps too, do some research on the components that make up the particular fragrance that they enjoy, and find a similar or matching perfume, that you do like, but still contains the notes that they found so appealing too. Another idea would be to help slowly wean your partner from the scent that they so enjoy. Provided that you are not so averse to the perfume that it makes you ill; don it frequently at first, and then slowly use it less and less, until he barely notices you no longer wear it. Remember to begin replacing it with another fragrance that he finds appealing too. If these options don’t work, then confide in your partner and advise them of your aversion to the particular fragrance, and invite them to accompany on a fragrance test ‘date’, where they can help you select a new perfume that you will both enjoy, and that could become “your” fragrance that you both helped select.
