Why should fragrances be layered, and what is the best way of layering perfumes.

To understand how to layer, one must understand what perfume layering is. Fragrance layering is basically the art of applying to the body perfumes or fragrances with the same aromas and bases. As fragrances, creams, shampoos, hair conditioners, hair sprays, body washes, soaps, anti-perspirants etc. all have their own fragrance, it’s crucial that one apply a layering technique to ensure that the various cosmetic preparations don’t conflict. Clashing components can detract from the fragrance that you have chosen to be the predominant one, and it is therefore important to layer perfume products that complement the predominant scent. One can either purchase products that are meant for use in fragrance layering, such as shower gel, soaps, talcum powders, and body lotions that all contain the same aroma as your main fragrance.

Another method is to purchase essential oils similar, or the same as those used in the perfume you use, and scent all your beauty products with the specifically matched perfume oil. To infuse the matching oil, use a dropper for adding to the bath water or place a few drops in a spray bottle with some unscented body oil, and use for spritzing on the skin. First select the fragrance intended as the predominant scent, and by this way, you can begin by using the bath gel or soaps infused with the matching oils, or a few drops of the oil in your bath water, followed by sealing in the fragrance and moisture by applying infused body and hand lotion. Follow this through by applying the main fragrance to your pulse points, not forgetting your ankles, feet and legs, since fragrant aromas rise. A wonderful perfume for layering is Prada which sells in a combination pack of body lotion, talc powder and perfume to make the perfume layering process easier and ensure the same scent is carried throughout the cosmetic process.
