Most people that visit Iceland go in the summer, but there's a whole other side to this place in the winter months. (It is called "Iceland," after all.) Spend the first five days doing really cool things like hiking glaciers, exploring Þingvellir National Park, reflecting on life under the Northern Lights, visiting horse farms, and warming up in hot springs. Then spend two days in exploring colourful, cool Reykjavík and end off the journey at the famous Blue Lagoon. See another side of this amazing country.

Itinerary

Day 1: Reykjavík
Make your way to Reykjavík today to start your tour. Have some time before the welcome meeting? Consider stopping for a dip at the Blue Lagoon, explore the Reykjavík harbour, or visit the Harpa museum.
Arrive at any time.
Day 2: Reykjavík/Álftröð
Travel from Reykjavík to a lava cave in the Bláfjöll Mountains. Explore the cave before continuing on to Þingvellir National Park. Visit sights like Geysir Hot Spring and Gullfoss Waterfall. In the evening, head out looking for Northern Lights in the Golden Circle before returning to Álftröð. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings will be dependent on weather conditions. G Adventures cannot guarantee that travellers booked on this tour will experience the Northern Lights.

Day 3: Álftröð
Hike around the Reykjadalur area. Take in the stunning landscapes and soak in geothermally-heated springs along the route. This evening step outside for another chance to view the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings will be dependent on weather conditions. Day 4: Álftröð/Reykjavík
Opt to pre-book the "Glacier Hiking on Sólheimajökull" or "Glaciers and Whales Bundle - Solheimajokull and Reykjavik" activity on the checkout page ahead of time, to include this optional on your tour.

Please note if you opt to pre-book the "Glaciers and Whales Bundle", the Glacier Walk will take place on this day, and Whale Watching will be scheduled for the next day of this tour.
Travel to the Sólheimajökull Glacier, and spend the morning exploring this incredible valley. Opt to hike around the stunning area, or take a glacier hike. Drive the scenic southern coast and visit the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls on the way back to Reykjavík.

Day 5: Reykjavík
Free day to explore the city and surrounding area. Opt to go snorkeling between tectonic plates, explore this quaint town, or get your adrenaline pumping on one of the many activities available around Reykjavík. Days 5-7 of this itinerary are unescorted by a CEO, giving you the maximum time for activities and personal exploration.

Day 6: Reykjavík
Raise a glass of Brennivín (the famous Icelandic Schnapps) and toast to the great adventure had.
Take another day to explore Reykjavík and the surrounding area.

Day 7: Reykjavík
Board an included shuttle to the Blue Lagoon and arrive by 10:00am. After having enjoyed all that the Blue Lagoon has to offer, you can either return to Reykjavík or be dropped off at Keflavík International Airport (KEF) on the included shuttles. Timetables will be available on site.
Visit the famous Blue Lagoon en route to Keflavik airport. Any onward travel should be booked after 3:30 pm. Please note that your voucher to visit the Blue Lagoon will be at hotel reception. Unless otherwise specified, your included shuttle will depart at 8:30am from the bus stop outside Hotel Cabin, and your Blue Lagoon ticket is for 10:00am.

We advise to only book onward travel after 3:30pm.
