Day 1: Welcome to Africa! Arrive Maun and fly into the Okavango Delta.

Start place: Maun

Your trip begins today in Maun, Botswana. An afternoon light aircraft flight takes us soaring above the Okavango Delta, a patchwork of grass islands and palm trees, enveloped by stretching fingers of water. Landing in the famous game haunt of the Moremi Game Reserve, we head out on safari. As the sun begins to set we’ll enjoy our first sun downer around the campfire at our private camp. Our tented camp is light on impact, high in comfort and transported with us to the next two safari locations on our journey. Individual canvas tents have two twin beds, comfortable mattresses, a connected private open air bathroom and covered veranda. Overnight at our private campsite in the Moremi Game Reserve. Day 2: Safari in the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve.
We enjoy our first full day on safari in the vast Moremi Game Reserve. Set aside for protection in 1962 by the BaTawana people, the Moremi encompasses one third of the entire Okavango Delta at 1,900 square miles. Filled with papyrus-lined lagoons, golden grasslands and mopane forests teaming with wildlife, it’s one of the world’s best safari reserves. We head out early in the morning to spot wildlife when they are most active. Our custom-built Land Cruisers are specially outfitted for safaris in Botswana. With stadium seating and arm rests for six, everyone has a comfy open-air perch to view the action. We return to camp for lunch and an afternoon siesta before going back out in the soft afternoon light for another wildlife encounter. We follow this comfortable rhythm throughout the duration of our safari, interjecting additional safari activities like mokoro canoeing and a walking safari. All meals included.

Day 3-5: Mokoro canoeing, bushwalks and safari in the Khwai Concession.
Our next wildlife-rich area of exploration is in the Khwai concession. Along the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, the land opens up and mopane forests thin into grasslands riverine acacia forests. The snaking Khwai River becomes a wildlife magnet in the dry season, drawing massive herds of elephants. Over the next two days we explore the area by mokoro canoe and on foot, learning about wildlife tracking and the finer ecological processes at play from our masterful guides. Here it's possible to see rarer species like roan and sable antelope, as well as more common ungulates such as kudu, tsessebe, wildebeest and zebra. And where there’s herbivories, the carnivores are usually close at hand. We keep our eyes out for lion, spotted hyena, cheetah and prowling leopard. All meals included.

Day 6-7: Spot wild dog and elephants in the Savuti Marsh and Chobe National Park.
Heading north, we game drive into the Savuti area of Chobe National Park. A particularly dynamic wildlife area, we may spot rhinoceros, kudu, impala, zebra, and wildebeest. If we’re lucky, we will encounter a pack of African wild dog working the area, an absolute thrill to behold on any wildlife safari. Moving between the Chobe riverfront and forest is one of the largest concentrations of elephant in all of Africa, estimated at close to 50,000. Lion, leopard, roan and sable also roam this forest filled with acacia, leadwood, baobab, euphorbia, palm trees and fragrant mangosteen. We enjoy our final nights’ tent camping in the pristine wilds of Botswana, appreciating the crackling fire and brilliant night sky. All meals included.

Day 8: Enjoy Zambezi River boating in Chobe National Park.
In the morning we pack up and head further east, to the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park. Here the final segment of the Chobe River, waters which have slowly crept from the Angolan Highlands, join with the mighty Zambezi River. Not only is this confluence epic from a geographical standpoint, it's also where the boarders of Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia converge. After break for lunch we leave our Land Cruiser for the gentle glide of a safari boat. On the Chobe River, we get to see wildlife from another vantage point. Watch for wading elephant or bobbing hippos resting in the gentle river current. Our day ends at a comfortable lodge, where we enjoy dinner overlooking a water hole. All meals included.

Day 9: Walk overlooking the mighty Victoria Falls.
This morning we depart early to cross the border into Zimbabwe. Upon arrival, we lace up our shoes, grab our cameras, and set off to see the famous Victoria Falls. From the Zimbabwe side, the main channel of the great Zambezi River cascades 300 feet down in thundering chorus. A gentle walk along the edge of this impressive natural wonder is an incredible experience. After lunch at an overlook, we’ll check into our comfortable hotel to relax. This evening we enjoy a final farewell dinner. All meals included.

Day 10: Depart Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
This morning we have some leisure time before departing for the airport. Walk back to the falls for a morning view or schedule a short activity with the lodge. We check out by 11am and transfer to the Victoria Falls Airport for our departing international flights. Breakfast included.
