Day 1: Jakarta
Arrive at any time. Transfer to hotel included. Should you wish more time to explore Jakarta on your own, we do recommend booking a pre-night.
Day 2: Jakarta/Bogor
Enjoy a guided city tour of Jakarta including the old city, Fatahillah Square, and the harbour. In the afternoon, depart for Bogor, with its stunning volcanic backdrop of imposing Mt Salak. This is a fast paced tour covering a lot of ground using a variety of different modes of transportation and sometimes departure times can be delayed and roads a bit rough. We ask that you have a bit of patience and understanding that this is the nature of this type of travel. There also is a lot of walking and temperatures can be quite hot and humid, so bring a good pair of walking/hiking shoes and be sure to hydrate.

Day 3: Bogor
Visit the Botanical Garden in Bogor, a world famous institution for research and conservation that is home to 13,983 different kinds of trees and plants. With a local guide, tour the gardens and the Zoological museum. Continue onto a Javanese puppet makers' workshop to see how traditional wooden puppets called "wayang golek" are produced by local artisans. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure.

Day 4: Bogor/Bandung
Drive to Bandung and explore the city known as the "Paris of Indonesia". Enjoy the angklung orchestra — with resonating melodies at this traditional bamboo instrument concert.

Day 5: Bandung/Magelang
This is a long travel day, so wear comfortable clothes and have your book/e-reader ready. That said the scenery is stunning so sit back and enjoy the views.
A full day of travel by private vehicle and train allows the opportunity to enjoy the stunning landscapes of Java. Arrive in Magelang in the evening.

Day 6: Magelang/Yogyakarta
This is an early start day to best take advantage of the stunning sunrise.
Rise before dawn to visit the Buddhist Temple complex of Borobudur and enjoy the sunrise, then tour the stunning ruins. After, continue on to the Village of Candirejo. Along the way, enjoy a peek into the daily life and activities such as making cassava crackers, rotating seasonal crops, and harvesting. Stop in at one of the houses to meet some locals and enjoy a drink and snack. Continue on to Yogyakarta for the evening.

Day 7: Yogyakarta
Explore Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple complex in Java, and learn about the history of the temples. Marvel at what is considered some of the most stunning Hindu works of art in Asia. Return to Yogyakarta and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 8: Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta is very walkable, so a stroll around the fascinating bird market is always interesting. If silver is of interest to you, then a trip to Kota Gede to pick up a hand-beaten bowl or some fine filigree is definitely worthwhile. As the home of arts, this really is the place to take in a Wayang (puppet) show or a dance performance, usually based on the Ramayana story.
This morning, learn about Batik, a traditional textile originating from the island of Java. Delve into the history and tradition of this art form and the Javanese philosophy behind some of the patterns, then partake in a hands-on workshop led by a local artist. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure. Opt to hop on a cycle-rickshaw and explore, visit Kraton Palace, or wander the markets and shops around the city.

Day 9: Yogyakarta/Malang
This is a long travel day, so wear comfortable clothes and have your book/e-reader ready. That said the scenery is stunning so sit back and enjoy the views.
Continue the journey by train across the green agricultural heartland of Java to Malang.

Day 10: Malang/Bromo
Visit Ngadas, a village in the scenic Mt Bromo region. Experience the local culture in this G Adventures-supported community with a village walk and local lunch. After, visit the volcanology office of Mt Bromo and meet with one of their experts who will explain how they monitor the volcano and discuss the 2010 eruption.

Day 11: Bromo/Ubud
This is an early start day (approximately 2:30am) to watch the sunrise over the crater’s rim. This is a popular view with both visitors and the local Buddhist Tenggerese, who can be seen giving offerings of food to receive blessings from the Supreme God Hyang Widi Wasa.
Rise early to take a scenic excursion to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park by 4x4 to catch the sunrise. We then ascend to the top of Mt Bromo, part of the Tengger Caldera, the largest volcanic range in the area. After, drive to Surabaya and catch our flight to beautiful Bali.

Day 12: Ubud
Free time today allows us to opt to enjoy a display of traditional Kecak dance or maybe roam the Gianyar night market for some local cuisine. Other options include strolling through the rice fields, devouring delicious organic foods, or white water rafting.
Enjoy a cooking class with a local chef who will accompany us to the morning markets and a visit to a rice field, helping us learn about the staples of Balinese cooking. We will later gather at our chef's home, where we'll learn how to make a traditional offering, followed by a lively cooking class and lunch. We can enjoy our afternoon at leisure.

Day 13: Ubud
Enjoy a full day at leisure to relax or consider the many optional activities. Opt to explore the stunning UNESCO-protected Jatiluwih Rice Terraces by electric cycle or visit the Monkey Forest, numerous temples, and markets. In the evening, opt to take in a traditional Kecak dance performance.

Day 14: Ubud/Sanur
Explore the spiritual side of Bali, following mountain roads through the jungle to visit Tirta Empul Temple and its bubbling springs believed to hold curative powers. Continue to Gunung Kawi, a Hindu temple complex surrounded by terraced rice fields then make your way to Kintamani, perched 1500m (4921 ft) above sea level on the edge of a crater overlooking Lake Batur, with active Mt Batur towering above. Also enjoy lunch at the G Adventures supported-Bali Community Training Lunch Program. This evening, opt to join your CEO for a farewell dinner at Pecatu Hill, overlooking the lights of Kuta and the largest Vishnu Statue in the world.

Day 15: Sanur
