Day 1: Santiago

Arrival day, no activities planned. The day is free to spend at your leisure exploring the city until our welcome meeting this evening.

Santiago is Chile’s largest city and capital, with internationally recognized vineyards and Andean ski resorts very close by. Possible day trips include a trip to Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, Chile’s premier beach resort, and to Isla Negra, Pablo Neruda’s seaside home.
Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included. Should you want more time to explore Santiago and do optional day trips, we highly recommend you book additional pre-nights.

Day 2: Santiago

Start place: Santiago

Head out on an excursion to the Maipo Valley area for an in-depth look at the region that produces such fine quality wines. Chilean wine is top-notch, with only France and Italy selling more wine worldwide.
Spend the morning with a wine expert, visiting a local winery outside Santiago and discussing the process that makes Chilean wine some of the best in the world. Sample various wines and enjoy a vertical tasting.

Day 3: Santiago/Puerto Varas

There are few areas in the world that can match the Chilean Lake District for scenic grandeur. Enjoy picture perfect views from snow-capped mountains to deep-blue and emerald lakes, smoking volcanoes, forests, and glaciers.
Fly to Puerto Varas, located in the stunning Chilean Lake District. Explore the countryside and Chilean culture as you visit the Puerto Montt's Angelmó fish market and the scenic town of Puerto Varas. After, visit a local family home and enjoy a “curanto," a beloved traditional dish. Mingle with your friendly hosts and try your hand at whipping up salsa pebre. Enjoy a typical "curanto" lunch. Curanto is a specialty of the region; slow-cooked in a large pot which includes shellfish, sausages, potatoes, and vegetables.

Today is free to explore on your own. Opt to take an excursion to Chiloé Island.

Day 5: Puerto Varas/San Carlos de Bariloche

Start place: Puerto Varas

Travel by bus and ferry to Bariloche, Argentina. Visit the Petrohue Falls, then enjoy the sights from the “Cruce de los Lagos”, considered one of the most scenic cruises in the world. The approximate journey time today is between 10 and 11 hours. This journey is by comfortable bus and a scenic ferry that crosses the Chilean/Argentine border. Travel time can change based on the time of year and weather conditions. During certain times of the year, the ferry cannot be used, which means we will travel overland by bus.

Day 6: San Carlos de Bariloche

Start place: San Carlos de Bariloche

Bariloche in many ways resembles the alpine resorts of Europe. Sample a beef parrillada, or a variety of fresh salmon or lake trout, then take a day hike around Cerro Catedral or enjoy some shopping. It’s also important to know that Bariloche is famous for its quality and quantity of chocolate!
Free time to explore this stunning region. Opt to take a bike tour, hike, or explore the town's shops and restaurants.

Day 7: San Carlos de Bariloche/Buenos Aires

Start place: San Carlos de Bariloche

Fly north to the buzzing metropolis that is Buenos Aires. Known as the “Paris of the Americas,” Buenos Aires is a vibrant city full of life.
Fly to Buenos Aires and enjoy free time to explore this vibrant city. Enjoy a light dinner at a local cafe.

Day 8: Buenos Aires

Enjoy a city tour of the "Paris of the Americas," visiting key sights and neighbourhoods including Plaza de Mayo, La Boca, and the famed Recoleta Cemetery. When you are done exploring, rest your weary feet and enjoy a drink in one of the many sidewalk cafés and restaurants. Spend the evening enjoying a night out with a light dinner in a local café before heading to a popular dance venue where we enjoy a lesson from local dancers. Opt to stay for Milonga, a neighbourhood tradition where students and teachers of the venue show up to practice their moves.

Day 9: Buenos Aires

Start place: Buenos Aires

Free day to explore this charming city. Opt to visit San Telmo for the antiques market and street art displays. Or spend the afternoon in the posh Recoleta area with cafés, museums, and a cemetery.

Day 10: Buenos Aires/Iguaçu Falls

Start place: Buenos Aires

Fly north to the Iguazú Falls area, near the borders of Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. Cross the border from Argentina to Brazil to experience the panoramic view of the falls.

As if imposing Iguazú Falls – with its 275 waterfalls – couldn’t get more impressive, the area surrounding this natural wonder is home to jaguars, ocelots, anteaters, and large toucans, among others. The falls and the national park by the same name were named UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1984.
Fly to Iguazú Falls and explore the Brazilian side to get the best panoramic view. This evening, enjoy a lecture with local biologist/botanist who will talk to us about the flora and fauna around the falls, and the uses of local plants for medicinal and healing purposes.

Day 11: Foz do Iguaçu

Start place: Foz do Iguacu

Explore trails directly over the falls of the Devil's Throat — the highest and deepest of the falls. Other trails allow access to the stretch of falls across the forest on the Argentine side.
Explore the Argentinian side of the falls. Opt to take a boat tour to get a view of the falls from below. Return to Foz for the night. Note: If you have booked the Iguassu Falls Boat Ride Theme Pack, you will do it on Day 4 when visiting the Argentine side of the falls.

Day 12: Foz do Iguaçu/São Paulo

Start place: Foz do Iguacu

Fly to São Paulo and discover the city through gastronomy and architecture. Visit some of the city's most noted sites. Along the way, a specialist guide will share his knowledge of popular local cuisine. São Paulo is a huge, vibrant and very busy city. Traffic can be difficult and even driving out of the city can take longer than expected.

End place: Sao Paulo

Day 13: São Paulo/Paraty

Start place: Sao Paulo

Drive to colonial Paraty. Visit an Afro-Brazilian community for a unique cultural interaction and enjoy a traditional meal. Opt to visit a cachaça distillery.

Enjoy an included schooner tour of the harbour's many islands and beaches.

This massive city gets as many as five million international tourists every year to sip caipirinhas on the beach, dance the samba in the city’s streets, and ascend Corcovado Mountain to see the truly monumental Christ the Redeemer up close.
Carry on by private van to Rio de Janeiro for free time to explore the city. Use our centrally located hotel in Copacabana as a base. Opt to take a city tour.
