This adventure is a nonstop highlight reel of some of the most extraordinary regions in Southern Africa. The journey begins while enjoying the first of many African sunsets on a safari cruise at the mighty Victoria Falls. Travel to heart of the Okavango Delta, Southern Africa’s most pristine safari ecosystem. From our stunning private tented campsites, we go in search of wildlife, letting camera lenses capture each encounter with rare wild dog, as well as leopards, lions and more. Traveling further south to Cape Town, take a relaxed cycling trip through the area’s superb wine-tasting region. The trip comes to a close at a private game reserve adjoining Kruger National Park, our final chance to form lasting memories of the area’s majestic landscapes and wildlife.

Day 1: Welcome to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Evening Zambezi River cruise at sunset.

Start place: Mhalatswe River

Our journey begins in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Upon arrival we are met and driven to our cozy hotel before embarking on our first excursion. The braided channels of the Zambezi River above the Falls are excellent for birding and spotting elephants by boat. It’s also a magical place to take in our first African sunset. We return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Dinner included.

Day 2: Hike to numerous Victoria Falls Vistas.
This morning we set off with our guide to hike along the Zimbabwe side of the Victoria Falls. The flat trail follows the cliff line directly opposite the falls and has many points to stop and take in the thundering falls and rainbow spray. Following lunch overlooking the falls, we’ll have the remainder of the afternoon free. Victoria Falls is the adventure hub of Africa. Spend your afternoon soaring above the falls on a helicopter flight, white water rafting, or simply relaxing poolside. All meals included; afternoon activities optional and at additional cost.

Day 3: Spot Wildlife on safari in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
Today we drive across the border into Botswana and catch our light-aircraft flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Arriving in the Khwai Concession, we hop onboard our custom 4x4 safari Land Cruiser and set off to explore. The 180,000 hectare concession is a premier wildlife area, situated on the fertile northeast of the Delta. With our first Okavango wildlife encounters under our belt, we return to camp for a delicious al fresco dinner and a drink around the campfire. Our mobile tented camp is light on impact and high in comfort. Large individual canvas tents have two twin beds, comfortable mattresses, a connected private open air bathroom and covered veranda. We overnight at our private campsite in the Khwai Concession. All meals included.

Day 4: Mokoro canoeing and safari in the wildlife rich Khwai Concession.
We’re up early this morning to make the most of our time in this pristine and impressive ecosystem. Fresh tracks from the night before may lead to a leopard spying down from a tree or a pride of lions on the prowl. We push off in a traditional mokoro canoe to glide through the papyrus-lined waters of the delta. With experienced guides poling, this is an ideal way to move silently and take in the abundant birdlife of the Okavango. We return to camp for lunch and an afternoon siesta before going back out in the soft afternoon light for another game drive. All meals included.

Day 5: Safari to the Moremi Game Reserve.
Today we cross over in to the Moremi Game Reserve, a vast wildlife wonderland encompassing about one-third of the entire Okavango Delta. Filled with tranquil lagoons, golden grasslands and wooded forests teaming with wildlife, it’s one of the world’s best safari reserves. With a little luck we may spot a pack of wild dog who frequent this area. Their behavior and ability as hunters is incredible to witness. As we move, so does our camp. This afternoon we picnic near slumbering hippos in a picturesque lagoon as our camp is transported our next private campsite. Overnight under the star-studded sky of the Moremi Game Reserve. All meals included.

Day 6: Full Day Moremi Wildlife Safari.
Another day in paradise! As we sip our morning coffee, we hear the bush come to life. Under the tutelage of our expert safari guide, we begin to perceive the rhythms of the Okavango. As our penchant for a digital existence begins to fade, our eyes and ears reengage with their primal perceptual functions. Out on safari we search for lion, leopard, wild dog and mighty elephant while taking in the unique herbivores of this area including sitatunga, red letchwe and, with a little luck, sable and roan. We overnight at our private campsite in the Moremi Game Reserve. All meals included.

Day 7: Explore the unique character of Cape Town.
We embark on a final morning game drive in the Okavango before heading by road back to the city of Maun. From here, a direct flight takes us to the southern tip of the continent and the marvelous city of Cape Town. We say goodbye to our Botswanan guide in Maun and prepare to meet our South African guide upon arrival in Cape Town. Wrapped in an amphitheater of mountains at the confluence of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, Cape Town is beautiful, historic and absolutely fun. Our boutique guesthouse for the next three nights is quintessential Cape Town in character and close to hip restaurants internationally recognized for their culinary creativity. Day 8: Walk on the top of Table Mountain and taste zesty Cape Malay cuisine.
This morning we set out for stunning views atop Table Mountain. A cable car from the base of the mountain whisks us up past Cape “fynbos” (a unique flora found only on the southern tip of Africa) to the flattop summit. Here we enjoy a leisurely walk, taking in the sweeping views of nearby landmarks. Returning to the base, we head for our next stop, the colorful Malay quarter of Bo Kaap. Once a former township, this area offers a unique view into South Africa’s challenging past while inviting visitors to its flavorful and storied cuisine. Welcomed into a local home, we sample the spicy aromatic flavors of curries and samosas which have cemented Cape Malay cooking as one of the quintessential South African emblems. After a short walk, we return to our relaxing Cape contemporary abode to enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure. Breakfast and lunch included.
Note: Weather on Table Mountain is notoriously unpredictable and the guides may adjust the itinerary for this reason.

Day 9: Cycle and taste our way through the Cape Winelands.
The Cape Winelands’ majestic mountain scenery, rolling vineyards and historic Cape Dutch architecture make for one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world. Our loop ride begins this morning in the lovely village of Franschhoek, founded by the French Huguenots in 1688 and nestled in a valley between towering mountains in the heart of the Winelands region. The quiet backroads are perfect for cycling, and we stop along the way to sample some of the celebrated vintages produced here. Returning to Cape Town, we are on our own for dinner tonight—an opportunity for us to choose from any of the excellent eateries located nearby. Breakfast and lunch included.
Cycling: 15 miles, 3-4 hours, elevation gain 715’/loss 690'; terrain: gentle gravel and paved roads.

Day 10: Safari in a Kruger National Park private game reserve.
A direct flight this morning takes us to a remarkable private wildlife reserve bordering South Africa's treasured Kruger National Park. The adjoining Timbavati Reserve is an impressive 500 square miles of rolling lowveld acacia scrub. Here we enjoy excellent wildlife viewings and bush walks in an uninterrupted setting. We set out on an afternoon game drive today in hopes of seeing rhino and other "Big Five" wildlife. After sipping a delightful sundowner, we return to our well-appointed safari lodge for a delicious dinner. Overnight at a safari lodge in the Timbavati Reserve. All meals included.

Day 11: Walking Safari in Timbavati Game Reserve.
Under the masterful guidance of our safari guide, we get some soil under our feet and experience the bush from a new perspective. Starting early, we head out on foot to find fresh tracks and see which of our African animal friends might be near. Rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, as well as a myriad of other creatures, are all possibilities. As the sun rises, we focus our attention on the vast diversity of plants, insects and small creatures that serve a vital function in the ecosystem. Concluding with a tasty brunch, we have some down time for a dip in the pool or afternoon siesta before going out on another game drive this evening. We overnight at a safari lodge in the Timbavati Reserve. All meals included.

Day 12: Fly to Johannesburg and bid farewell before departing for home.
We have one final morning on safari before packing up and catching our flight to Johannesburg, where our adventure concludes. Arrive in Johannesburg by midafternoon in time to catch evening international departures. Breakfast included.
