Day 1: Beijing

Start place: Beijing

Arrive at any time. Peak season notice: Golden Week falls between October 1st and 7th, 2019/2020/2021. Please note that Golden Week is a semi-annual 7-day or 8-day national holiday for the people of China. This is a very busy time of the year for domestic tourists, so expect some crowding at major attractions. We recommend booking these dates well in advance as accommodations and transportation availability is extremely limited.

End place: Beijing

Day 2: Beijing

Start place: Beijing

Visit the famous Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City before boarding an overnight train to Harbin.

End place: Beijing

Day 3: Harbin

Start place: Harbin

After dark at Harbin Ice and Snow World lights dance among the sculptures and the festival becomes a whole new world. Take a stroll and get lost in an ice maze, or lace up some skates and hop on the ice rink. Since 1999 the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival has grown to be the largest in the world and finds world-famous ice sculptors to recreate real buildings, towers, even castles (some of which you may recognize from around the world) all out of ice and snow. It's hard to imagine these icy structures born out of master craftmanship melting down by March.
Arrive in Harbin this morning and enjoy a walking tour along Central Street. Later, head to the Harbin International Ice & Snow Sculpture Festival to enjoy the stunning ice sculptures and sunset over the city.

End place: Harbin

Day 4: Harbin

Start place: Harbin

Sun Island is the birthplace of snow sculpture art in China. Be sure to bring your hat and mitts so you can hop on a snowmobile for a ride through an open snowy field or if you'd like, even participate in a couple of holes of snow golf. The snow sculptures are best seen in daylight because unlike the ice sculptures seen yesterday they're not lit up at night. These snow sculptures will put any snowman you've ever seen to shame as their giant scale and the vast array of shapes and sculptures are unlike anything you'll ever see at any other winter festival.
Enjoy a free morning to explore Harbin. Visit Sun Island to enjoy world-class snow sculptures. This afternoon visit the beautiful Saint Sophia Orthodox Church. This evening, board an overnight train to Beijing.

End place: Harbin

Day 5: Beijing

Start place: Beijing

After arriving in Beijing this morning, explore the Great Wall – one of China's most iconic structures. Enjoy a final evening in this bustling metropolis.
