Day 1: Marrakech

Start place: Grace Marrakech

Salaam Aleikum! Welcome to Morocco. There are no activites planned for today until the Welcome Meeting at 5pm. If you have the time (and the energy) why not explore the Medina and the city's seemingly endless mosaic of souqs before you have to attend. Or maybe take a walk to the well-known Koutoubia Mosque and its 12th-century minaret, which was the famous prototype for the Giralda tower in Seville. During this evening’s welcome meeting, you will need to hand over your family’s insurance and next of kin details to your leader. Following the formalities, why not ask your leader for a good place to get your first taste of Morocco for dinner. You could even ask your fellow family travellers to join you and get to know each other over a tajine.
Day 2: Marrakech
After breakfast head out on a 3-hour bike ride across this colourful and captivating city. Cycle through the King's Palace and pedal past the myriad stalls of the Medina. Your nose is sure to announce your proximity to Djeema el-Fna, the famous public square filled with merchants, food stalls and performers. Enjoy a rest, plus a drink of arguably the best freshly squeezed orange juice anywhere in the world at a local stall. Your bike tour ends here, among the crowds and sound of drums and flutes. Spend a little time exploring at your on pace, perhaps picking up some souvenirs or sampling among some of the smoking meats that cooks begin selling at dusk.

Day 3: Atlas Mountains
Take a scenic, 1.5-hour drive to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, which form part of the Berber territories of the Ourika Valley. The red and orange earth tones of the mountains have been mimicked on the adobe buildings, giving the impression that the entire city rises up from the earth. Get set for a thrilling, 3-hour downhill bike ride, the intensity of which will be adjusted according to the group's abilities. A support vehicle will accompany the group, so those who do not wish to cycle can follow in the car. Enjoy a classic Moroccan lunch of salads, tajine and freshly baked bread. In the evening, enjoy the hospitality of a local Berber family with a homestay in Aroumd. Facilities at the homestay are shared (both the bathroom and sleeping arrangements) but cosy, comfortable and definitely a unique Intrepid experience.
Meals: B, L, D
Day 4: High Atlas Mountains
Rise and shine for a half-day of hiking through the glorious High Atlas Mountains, a trek that may reach heights of 2684 metres above sea level. There will be three trail options available, each revealing sweeping views of the terraces and ramshackle township of Imlil and the surrounding peaks and valleys. Your leader will select the best option for the group, weighing the capabilities of each member and taking into consideration the terrain and weather conditions. No matter the trail chosen, the group will be trekking for between 3-5 hours, including an hour-long lunch break. Return to Aroumd in the afternoon and enjoy some free time to explore the village and get to know the local people further.
Meals: B, L, D
Day 5: Essouaira
Make tracks for the Atlantic Coast, driving four hours to the old fishing town of Essaouira, where sandstone walkways contrast with whitewashed houses and bright blue sky. Visit the intriguing Jewish Quarter, where the crumbling stone buildings are coloured blue. Then, head to the fish market for an incredibly fresh seafood lunch among the lively trade scene. Morocco has always been a country of horse riding, and today you’ll have a chance to see the coastline the classic way – from the saddle. Enjoy a two-hour ride along the coast on the back of a beautiful creature, then enjoy an evening at leisure.
Meals: B, L
Day 6: Marrakech
Today make the two-hour journey back to Marrakech. Upon arrival, visit a traditional hammam and enjoy some local luxury. Experience a specialty soak and a massage before some free time later in the day. You can relax by the hotel pool or perhaps visit the many souks that Marrakech is famous for and practise haggling.

Day 7: Marrakech
Sadly all good things come to an end. This Moroccan adventure finishes after breakfast today. We suggest taking the time to savour the fascinating sights of Marrakech before you leave. We can assist with an additional accommodation at the time of booking.
