Day 1: Welcome to Olympic National Park!

Start place: Park Shore Waikiki

Meet your guides and fellow travelers at 9am at our host hotel near Sea-Tac Airport. We then load into our group van for a three-hour, scenic transfer to our first hike in the Sol Duc Valley. A perfect warm up for the week to come, our trail to Sol Duc Falls winds gently through dense, old-growth forest and is a perfect introduction to the diverse ecosystems found within the Olympics. Cascading 48 feet into a craggy canyon and emptying into the Sol Duc River, the falls are one of the most iconic viewpoints in the park. We continue our hike along the river and learn about the life cycle of local salmon and their importance to the Pacific Northwest region. In the late afternoon we have a short transfer to our exclusive REI Signature Camp, where our friendly host will be waiting to introduce us to our home away from home. Lunch and dinner included.
Hiking: up to 6 miles depending on route; up to 200’ elevation gain/loss.
Meals: D
Day 2: Discover the wonders of the Hoh Rainforest.
We start the day with a hearty Signature Camp breakfast before shuttling two hours to the enchanting Hoh Rainforest. Our first hike is through the Hall of Mosses, where green tendrils of moss drape majestically from bigleaf maple and towering Sitka spruce. Along the way we keep a close eye out for a variety of critters, both big and small. We’ll learn about the valuable banana slug, which slowly makes its way across the forest floor, processing waste and converting it into humus. Or we may spy the commanding Roosevelt elk, the largest variety of elk in North America. We continue our explorations on the Spruce Nature Trail and learn more about how 170 inches of annual rainfall shapes this unique landscape. After a day full of discovery, we swing by Sol Duc Hotsprings and take a dip in one of the warm mineral pools. All meals included.
Hiking: 2 miles; negligible elevation gain/loss.
Meals: B, L, D
Day 3: Towering sea stacks and crashing waves await along the Olympic coast.
We hit the beach today on a search for sea life and hidden treasures. Our final destination will be chosen based on a number of factors including tides, weather and trail conditions. Regardless of the trail, we’re in for a day of fun exploring the nooks, crannies and rocky crags of the Pacific Northwest coast. We’ll search for tide pools alive with sea stars and comb beaches for colorful rocks, shells and sea glass. We may even witness a bald eagle returning to a high perch on a stately Douglas fir or witness a playful sea otter running across the open beach. By the end of the day, we’ll have developed a deeper appreciation for the wild Pacific Coast and leave with memories to last a lifetime. All meals included.
Hiking: up to 4 miles; up to 310’ of elevation gain/loss.
Meals: B, L, D
Day 4: Follow Rain Shadow Loop to the summit of Blue Mountain.
Our hike today leads to gorgeous views of Port Angeles, Vancouver Island, the Strait of Juan De Fuca and beyond. We follow the Rain Shadow Loop, so called because of the rain shadow cast from nearby Mount Olympus, which diverts significant amounts of precipitation from reaching the peak. Our guides provide insight into how the dry environment and lightning have impacted the ecology of the mountain. Depending on the group’s appetite for adventure, we’ll have a number of additional awe-inspiring trails to select from after enjoying a delicious picnic lunch. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Hiking: up to 5 miles; 500’ elevation gain and loss.
Meals: D
Day 5: Explore Hurricane Hill on our grand finale hike.
We’ll grab a breakfast to go this morning before heading out for our final hours on the trail. Our destination today is one of the most iconic hikes of Olympic National Park: Hurricane Hill. Our trail is a wide pathway through a forest of pines and low shrubs to the top of this classic lookout. From the summit we’ll enjoy panoramic views of Mount Baker, the craggy Bailey Range and, depending on conditions, possibly Mount Rainier. Hurricane Hill is located in a very exposed section of Olympic National Park and is known for high winds and sudden squalls. After giving our windbreakers a test at the summit, we start our journey back to Seattle where we’ll bid our guides and new friends farewell. Breakfast and lunch included.
Hiking 3.2 miles; 650’ elevation gain and loss.

End place: Travelodge Clifton Hill
