As we hike along our trail, we marvel at the vastness of nature, peer out toward the Great Western Divide and pass by cascading creeks, until we arrive at our camp at Mehrten Meadow. The next day calls for a challenging ascent of Alta Peak. At 11,204 feet, the views from Alta’s summit are absolutely incredible. Our route also takes us through an ancient forest of giant sequoia trees as we make our way to the largest tree in the world, General Sherman.

Pass California Falls en route to dramatic 50-mile views at Glen Aulin. Walk among colorful wildflower blooms in the largest sub-alpine meadow in the Sierra Nevada. Delicious meals accompany each evening camped along the banks of the Tuolumne River, its rushing waters lulling us to sleep after an exhilarating day in the outdoors.
Yellowstone Backpacking – Black Canyon
Spend time in the untamed wilderness of Yellowstone’s Black Canyon on a 4-day adventure.
The Yellowstone River winds its way nearly 700 miles from Yellowstone National Park to the Missouri River. We explore a scenic stretch through Black Canyon by foot, teeming with cascades and waterfalls. Carrying all we need in our packs, we quickly ditch the crowds and enjoy the solitude of remote wilderness.
Backpacking five to eight miles each day, we take time to rest, relax, and recharge on our journey from camp to camp. Anglers can even try their hand at trout fishing from one of the best rivers in the world. On our journey, we keep an eye out for wildlife, from elk and bison to moose and the occasional bear.

Yellowstone Backpacking – Gallatin Mountains
Get away from the crowds and into Yellowstone's spectacular backcountry on this 4-day guided excursion.
Towering above at 10,000 feet and extending over 75 miles, Yellowstone’s Gallatin Mountains are breathtaking, expansive and not to be missed. The area is tucked away at Yellowstone’s northwestern edge and is largely unknown to visitors. Our journey explores the Gallatin Crest Traverse, challenging backpackers with steep climbs and drops—only to be rewarded with stunning scenery as far as the eye can see.
Our hike begins at the Specimen Creek trailhead in the scenic Gallatin River Valley. We trek up to the crest in search of stunning mountain vistas, ending our day at a beautiful camp in the meadows along the shores of the creek. We continue following Specimen Creek upstream through majestic stands of spruce and fir until we arrive at Gallatin Crest and High Lake, where we enjoy a quick dip before making camp for the night. Our destination is Shelf Lake, the Park's highest point at 9,200 feet above sea level, where we behold beautiful sunsets and dramatic views.

This itinerary offers a unique chance to see the powerful grandeur of Yosemite through the eyes of 20th-century explorers John Muir and Galen Clark.
After meeting our group of fellow adventurers, we don our packs and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the descent into the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne. Climb up the Muir Gorge bypass for views of Grand Mountain, Colby Mountain and Tuolumne Peak. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the crisp, blue river waters. Pass California Falls en route to dramatic 50-mile views at Glen Aulin. Walk among colorful wildflower blooms in the largest sub-alpine meadow in the Sierra Nevada. Delicious meals accompany each evening camped along the banks of the Tuolumne River, its rushing waters lulling us to sleep after an exhilarating day in the outdoors.
Days 5
Spend time in the untamed wilderness of Yellowstone’s Black Canyon on a 4-day adventure.
The Yellowstone River winds its way nearly 700 miles from Yellowstone National Park to the Missouri River. We explore a scenic stretch through Black Canyon by foot, teeming with cascades and waterfalls. Carrying all we need in our packs, we quickly ditch the crowds and enjoy the solitude of remote wilderness.
Backpacking five to eight miles each day, we take time to rest, relax, and recharge on our journey from camp to camp. Anglers can even try their hand at trout fishing from one of the best rivers in the world. On our journey, we keep an eye out for wildlife, from elk and bison to moose and the occasional bear.

Get away from the crowds and into Yellowstone's spectacular backcountry on this 4-day guided excursion.
Towering above at 10,000 feet and extending over 75 miles, Yellowstone’s Gallatin Mountains are breathtaking, expansive and not to be missed. The area is tucked away at Yellowstone’s northwestern edge and is largely unknown to visitors. Our journey explores the Gallatin Crest Traverse, challenging backpackers with steep climbs and drops—only to be rewarded with stunning scenery as far as the eye can see.
Our hike begins at the Specimen Creek trailhead in the scenic Gallatin River Valley. We trek up to the crest in search of stunning mountain vistas, ending our day at a beautiful camp in the meadows along the shores of the creek. We continue following Specimen Creek upstream through majestic stands of spruce and fir until we arrive at Gallatin Crest and High Lake, where we enjoy a quick dip before making camp for the night. Our destination is Shelf Lake, the Park's highest point at 9,200 feet above sea level, where we behold beautiful sunsets and dramatic views.

Days 4
Spend four days backpacking, sightseeing and animal-spotting in Yellowstone’s Lamar and Pelican Valleys.
Elk, pronghorn, bear, wolf, moose—there is no shortage of wildlife in Yellowstone’s spectacular Lamar Valley. The area’s vast, far-reaching landscapes are renowned as a haven for these animals, and provide the perfect view for spotting them. The remote Pelican Valley is widely known as a premier grizzly bear habitat in the United States; its meandering meadows and creeks make for a perfectly serene backdrop for our adventure.
Beginning in Lamar Valley, backpack south along the banks of the Lamar River, keeping eyes peeled for some of the 67 species of mammals that live in the park. Take a cooling dip in the river, or just let its tranquil sounds lull you to sleep from the comfort of our riverside campsites. Traveling in the shadow of the Absaroka Mountain Range, cross up and over Mist Creek Pass, ultimately dropping down into the beautiful open meadows of the magnificent Pelican Valley. By the end of the through-hike, the sights, sounds and smells of Yellowstone’s most spectacular landscapes will be forever etched into our minds.
We’ll admit it, no one does the Inca Trail quite like us. We combine the cultural highlights of the Sacred Valley with the challenge of one of the world’s best-known hikes. The four-day Inca Trail trek passes through a stunning combination of the region’s ruins, mountainscapes, and cloud forests. Once you catch your first glimpse of Machu Picchu in the early morning light, you’ll know it was all worthwhile. Best of all, since we run our own treks, we can ensure the fair treatment of our porters and the quality of food and equipment, so you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the region.
Days 7
There’s more than one way to earn your Peru hiking stripes. On the Lares trek, you’ll get three days of trekking through the mountains around the Sacred Valley, passing by remote communities, farms, and friendly faces. Forget just taking in the view — unique experiences are waiting for you at a G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op and local pottery community. And, since you’re this close already, we’ll get to you to Machu Picchu with a scenic train ride.
Days 7
Explore Yellowstone’s remote Bechler River on this 4-day backpacking adventure.
The call to venture off the beaten path is answered on the remote and majestic trails of the world’s first national park. We explore the Bechler River, a unique destination that offers an up-close vantage of nature at work. Discover teeming rivers and streams, the wonder of pristine geysers and hot springs, and the breathtaking beauty of meadows carpeted with wildflowers.
Our hike starts out with a visit to the Lonestar Geyser, the largest backcountry geyser in the park. We then follow the Firehole River, crossing the Continental Divide before arriving at Shoshone Lake and Geyser Basin. Later on our journey, we explore a gorgeous series of hot springs whimsically dubbed, “Mr. Bubbles”. Ford two river beds and enjoy the thundering waterfall view on the other side. Along the way, stop to forage from ripe berry bushes and, with luck, view some of the park’s abundant wildlife. Hiking through the beautiful meadows and forests of Southwestern Yellowstone is a truly unforgettable backcountry experience.

Days 7

Along the way, cross fast flowing rivers, climb to the highest hotel in the world and take in close up views of the mountain and the surrounding Himalayas.
